SEAL BEACH, CA - Cosmodyne, LLC (“Cosmodyne”) and UGI Energy Services (“UGI”) have recently installed and successfully commissioned a LINEX natural gas liquefaction (LNG) plant in Mehoopany, Pennsylvania.  The facility will produce liquefied natural gas for UGI’s merchant and utility businesses.  “Cosmodyne is grateful to have been chosen as the technology provider for this important project.  Our LINEX series liquefier’s wide operating range and simple operation will make it easy for UGI to keep up with changing market demands,” said George Pappagelis, general manager of Cosmodyne. The refrigeration compressor, the major energy consumer in the liquefier, is driven directly by a natural gas fired turbine.  This reduces operating costs and decouples the facility from any electrical power limitations.  Cosmodyne’s liquefier uses environmentally-friendly nitrogen refrigeration technology to produce high quality LNG and is inherently safe and easy to operate. The equipment was designed and fabricated in Cosmodyne’s USA facilities. “The Cosmodyne team delivered a plant that exceeded our expectations in both performance and quality.  We are very pleased with the facility,” said Mike Mara, Vice President of Engineering, UGI Energy Services. The plant was successfully commissioned earlier this year.  This is the third peak shaving liquefier that Cosmodyne has commissioned in the last twelve months.
