Canada States Africa Line announced the addition of a fourth vessel to its service.
M/V Atlantic Navigator will complement M/V Atlantic Runner on the service between the ports of Southern Africa and US Gulf, thus offering monthly frequency on this route. She will join the service on the sailing out of Houston early May 2009 to Walvis Bay, Cape Town, Durban and Richards Bay. Other ports of call are on inducement.
Like the other vessels in CSAL's fleet M/V Atlantic Navigator is an Astrakhan Mark III type ship. She is a modern multipurpose tweendecker, 18,731mt deadweight, with own gear of up to 90mt capacity, and with ro/ro capability. CSAL was established in March 2008. Initially the service covered the ports of Montreal, Baltimore, Walvis Bay, Cape Town, Durban, Richards Bay and employed two Astrakhan Mark III type ships. In the scope of one year, the ports of Savannah, Houston and New Orleans have been added to the rotation and in the last few months the fleet was expanded to four modern multipurpose tween-deckers.
