Dachser, one of the global leaders in the logistics industry, recently opened a Road Logistics branch in Istanbul, Turkey, supplementing its Air & Sea Logistics operations already established in Istanbul and Izmir. In addition to improving service for existing distribution and procurement customers in Turkey, Dachser Turkey Lojistik Hizmetleri A.S. will support company-owned import and export transport operations with links to its European groupage network via the Dachser Cargoplus organization.  Closely interlinked, intermodal logistic services offer major potential in sharing infrastructures and technology. “Turkey is an interesting market for logistics as the economy is developing at a rapid pace, with a young population that is growing faster than the European average,” explains Wolfgang Reinel, Managing Director European Logistics North Central Europe, who oversees Dachser’s Road Logistics business in Turkey. According to Frank Guenzerodt, President & CEO, Dachser USA, Turkey is also an interesting market for the U.S. “With the increasing import activity from Turkey to the U.S. year over year we will work even more closely with our organization in Turkey.”   “While we have been developing transport operations in Turkey over the last few years, now it is time to take the next steps to ensure customers can profit from uniform Dachser IT systems, especially Tracking & Tracing. Working in close collaboration with our Dachser Air & Sea Logistics organization, we want to approach certain Turkish growth sectors, such as consumer goods, automotive and textiles/fashion, with a holistic, intermodal logistics strategy,” Reinel added. Dachser Turkey Road Logistics is charged by experienced logistics manager, Erkan Basak, who has worked at large international logistics providers for almost 25 years. “We set ambitious growth targets and want to establish additional branches in the important industrial centers of Bursa, Izmir, Ankara and Mersin in the near future,” Basak noted.
