• Industry experts in Chicago and Atlanta share customs updates as part of DHL Global Forwarding’s DHL University series
  • New date announced for upcoming Customs Brokerage seminar in San Francisco
MIAMI - DHL Global Forwarding, the air and ocean freight specialist within Deutsche Post DHL Group, establishes “The Evolving World of Customs” a U.S. series of educational seminars for customers as part of its DHL University program. Given the ongoing changes in U.S. Customs regulations and various noteworthy trends in the customs field, DHL created an educational series to help existing as well as prospective customers learn about the changes and maintain compliance. As part of the 2016 series, “The Evolving World of Customs” DHL gathered logistics experts, thought leaders and customs specialists to share insights with customers on Oct. 3, 2016 in Chicago, Illinois and Nov. 30, 2016 in Atlanta, Georgia. Among the topics discussed were highlights of the Trade Facilitation and Trade Enforcement Act (including ENFORCE, EAPA, changes in mitigation guidelines and forced labor), an overview of Customs Trade Priority Issues and updates on the Centers of Excellence and Expertise. Given the success of this year’s El Paso, Texas; Los Angeles, California and now Chicago, Illinois and Atlanta, Georgia seminars, DHL will launch another similar seminar by the end of 2016 in San Francisco, California on Dec. 8, 2016. “We want our customers to feel informed and comfortable when importing into or exporting out of the U.S.,” said Jim Miller, senior director for Customs Brokerage at DHL Global Forwarding, U.S. “Therefore, along with our own internal experts, the DHL University event also featured industry speakers from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and various other risk management experts. This setup gave our customers the opportunity to better understand the rapidly evolving world of customs and its impact on how they ship.” Though the San Francisco seminar will conclude the U.S. DHL University events for 2016, DHL plans to continue the series in strategic U.S. locations and across the Americas throughout 2017. “We remain dedicated to analyzing relevant industry updates and look forward to sharing our findings with customers at future DHL University events,” added Miller. Since its launch in 2007, the DHL University program has been running in the U.S. and all Latin American countries where DHL Global Forwarding operates. The program has focused on engaging in dialogue with customers and key logistics industry thought leaders as well as DHL’s experts in transportation and logistics topics such as local and global issues, innovations and best practices. The DHL University model was developed by Global Forwarding; however, it has been shared across the DHL network and adopted by other business units. In 2014, DHL Global Forwarding also launched free monthly 60-minute customer webinars in the U.S. that focus on various customs and trade topics.
