HONG KONG - DHL Express, the world’s leading express service provider, is pleased to announce that it has been honored with multiple industry accolades in recognition for its environmental protection efforts.  DHL Express Hong Kong was awarded with the Carbon Reduction Certificate from the Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence (HKAEE) and the “Green Office” and “Better World Company” Labels from the World Green Organization (WGO), recognizing the company’s dedication to protecting the environment. Allen Yu, Vice President, Operations, DHL Express Hong Kong, said,  “These honors are testament to the success we have had in driving GoGreen, our environmental protection program and an integral part of our business strategy. As the first logistics company in Hong Kong to set a carbon efficiency target, a 30 percent improvement in overall efficiency by 2020 against the 2007 baseline, we have a reliable, effective and transparent carbon accounting system to accurately quantify, verify and report carbon emissions in our operations.”   Locally, we led the industry by deploying the first hybrid truck in 2011, which is 24 percent more fuel efficient than a traditional diesel truck, together with two electric vans and two electric scooters that do not emit exhaust fumes. Since then, we have added three hybrid trucks to our fleet. These latest awards reaffirm our continuous efforts to safeguard the environment and encourage our customers and the community to do the same.” The Carbon Reduction Certificate recognizes local buildings or organizations that achieve verified absolute reduction of overall carbon emissions.  Participants are encouraged to identify and take measures to reduce their carbon footprints and have their outcomes undergo third-party verification. WGO’s Green Office Awards Labeling Scheme (GOALS) seeks to recognize and evaluate efforts of companies to go green, as well as educate and encourage companies to take steps such as implementing green best practices in their offices and retail chains, in nine stipulated aspects of reduction operations ranging from energy, water and paper consumption to carbon at their offices. DHL Express Hong Kong was awarded the “Green Office” and “Better World Company” Labels for the second consecutive year.
