ECS Group, the world's largest GSSA organization headquartered in Paris, has announced the acquisition of three companies in Italy founded by Glauco Martinelli ' Air Transport Consultants Spa (ATC), Airfreight and Data Processing Srl (ADP) and Airline Logistics Srl (AirLog).

ATC was founded in 1980 and is the leading air cargo general sales and service agent in Italy. It is based in Milan and has offices in Rome, Venice and Florence. The company employs 34 staff.

ADP was launched in 1995. Together with ATC, the company has been recognized as the best GSSA in Italy for the last 10 years by ANAMA, the Association of Italian Forwarding Agents. ADP has 23 employees. ADP is headquartered in Milan and has regional offices providing full coverage of the territory.

AirLog was established in 1996 as a cargo handling company to support the airline customers of ATC and ADP. It was founded with the aim of providing airlines with operational and administrative support for import and export airfreight. AirLog's 41 staff operate from its two airport locations in Milan and Rome.

Bertrand Schmoll, President of ECS Group, said: 'These acquisitions are strategically very important in establishing a market leader position for ECS in the important Italian air cargo market. ATC and ADP are the biggest GSSAs in Italy and were arguably the biggest independent GSSA in Europe. We have known these companies for many years and have always respected their professionalism and integrity. They are a valuable addition to the ECS Group and will allow us to establish new contacts with airlines and to enlarge our relationships with others. With this investment, ECS has also established a presence in Venice and Florence for the first time.'

Sauro Martinelli, Managing Director of ADP and ATC, said: 'During various airline meetings, we had occasions in the past to meet with ECS managers. It was clear that our companies share the same objectives in terms of professionalism, experience, innovation and teamwork and, above all, a passion for the airline business. Six years on, I am very happy that we have reached this agreement. ECS has great credibility in the airline cargo market and proven reliability when it comes to meeting its goals. This is what has attracted us to join the ECS Group.'
