EFIS Air, part of ECS Group, has arranged the delivery of the fourth and last stage of the Ariane rocket (Avinum).

The sensitive cargo, weighing nearly 10,000 kilos, had to be maintained at a consistent temperature of between 25' and 27' throughout the transportation process, which EFIS Air was able to successfully achieve despite the -1' conditions at Vatry Airport in France prior to the flight's departure and the + 26' temperatures awaiting the shipment as it arrived in Cayenne, Guyana.

EFIS Air chartered an IL-76 freighter for the flight and Irina Boutry, the company's Operations Manager, accompanied the rocket section on the journey to ensure a seamless delivery. EFIS has previously arranged the movement of space rocket stages to Cape Canaveral in the United States and is working on another project for later in 2013 to carry a similar shipment for the space industry to Baikonur in Kazakhstan.

Alain Boussard, Managing Director of EFIS Air, said: 'We were very happy to be involved in such an important project for the Ariane space project. This is an area of our business where we continue to demonstrate a high level of expertise and we are confident of growing our activities for the aerospace industry in 2013 and longer-term.'
