The European Liner Affairs Association is pleased to announce that P3 Technology has been granted a contract to run its new information exchange system ' a database of volumes shipped on trades to and from Europe on a port/port basis.

The Liner Shipping Conference Block Exemption repeal will come into effect in mid-October 2008, meaning the end of conferences on trades to and from Europe, and therefore end of the traditional source of volume statistics on those trades ' with the exception of Trans-Atlantic trades. ELAA and P3 will begin testing the new system in the New Year to ensure it is fully operational by October.

P3 is a Software technology company based in Dublin, Ireland. P3 provides a range of web based enterprise applications for the Hotel Industry and a Statistical analysis platform for the Maritime Industry. The company was inaugurated in 2001 and is run by Phelim Pekaar and Daniel Griffiths.

ELAA Executive Director Chris Bourne said 'We are very excited about starting the new system. After years of talks in Brussels, we will finally be implementing our ideas in the real world. In the very near future we will be publishing information about the output shippers and the general public can expect from the industry. This information will be highly useful to all participants in our industry.'
