Etihad Crystal Cargo will switch its German freighter services from Frankfurt International airport to Frankfurt-Hahn airport.

The first freighter from Abu Dhabi to Frankfurt-Hahn will begin on 3 May, and the four flights-per-week service will operate every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Des Vertannes, Etihad's vice president cargo, said: 'Frankfurt-Hahn offers a number of key benefits including greater operational flexibility because there are no time restrictions or curfew. The freighter services to Frankfurt-Hahn will also further strengthen Crystal Cargo's position to and from the German air cargo market, which is one of our top 3 global markets.'

Frankfurt-Hahn is one of Crystal Cargo's key cargo-only destinations and will be served by one of the three Airbus A300-600RF freighter aircraft that offers a cargo capacity of up to 44 tons.

Maria Muller, sales and marketing director of Frankfurt-Hahn airport said: 'It is great news that Etihad Crystal Cargo will soon begin operations to Frankfurt-Hahn airport. Etihad and Frankfurt-Hahn are both still relatively new in this highly competitive industry however through this new service both service operators will be able to expand their operations and win new business.'

The freighter service to Frankfurt-Hahn airport complements the belly-hold cargo capacity Etihad Airways offers on its daily passenger services to Frankfurt International airport and Munich Franz Josef Strauss.

Crystal Cargo recently announced the appointment of ATC Aviation Services Ltd. as its new general sales and services agent (GSSA) for Germany. From 2 May ATC will manage all aspects of Crystal Cargo's sales and supervises the service delivery in Germany.
