"Joel brings a depth of knowledge and a passion for both economic growth and environmental conservation that aligns perfectly with our goals," said Ben Hart, UIPA's executive director. "His guidance will be invaluable as we strive to achieve a sustainable balance in our development projects. We are thrilled to have him join our team."

Appointed by Gov. Spencer J. Cox in June 2022 and confirmed by the Utah Senate in September, Ferry leads the Utah Department of Natural Resources (DNR), overseeing an agency that spans eight divisions and two offices.

A dedicated public servant, Ferry's experience includes roles as a legislator, chairman of the Box Elder County Republican Party, and active participation on several boards and councils focused on agriculture, wildlife conservation, and community development.

Holding a bachelor's degree in Economics and Finance from Utah State University, Ferry's educational background complements his professional and personal endeavors.

Ferry's appointment as an ex officio board member underscores the UIPA's commitment to fostering economic development, job creation, and logistics innovation, all while prioritizing the protection and enhancement of Utah's natural environment.
