Envirotainer successfully performed its first real life pilots with integrated Telemetry in collaboration with innovation driven partners. LifeConEx at DHL, Swiss World Cargo, and Emirates SkyCargo did the first pilots in September 2015. Additional pilots are planned with Air France-KLM and Kuehne + Nagel. The integrated Telemetry pilots were performed on RAP e2 container shipments from Europe to the Middle East and to APAC. Their success marks a milestone in Envirotainer’s Telemetry program. The pilots are part of Envirotainer’s extensive verification and validation plan that is carried out before equipping the entire RKN e1 and RAP e2 container fleet.  Envirotainer has invested in Telemetry services to offer more visibility in the cold chain. Over time, its entire fleet of e-technology containers (RKN e1 and RAP e2) will be equipped with integrated Telemetry, offering real time visibility of the shipments on both positioning and vital signs, in particular internal temperature of shipments, ambient temperature, battery charge levels, lights, shocks, and door openings. From a technical standpoint, Envirotainer has developed its own integrated hub linked to a set of container sensors. The data is sent encrypted through the Sentry 500 Flightsafe device from OnAsset Intelligence, and is offered in Envirotainer’s new digital platform, e°-strix. The new platform was launched on October 2, 2015 and offers a host of services from booking services to knowledge library and will now also offer a Telemetry module. “The real time monitoring in our e-technology containers will increase the visibility of the shipments allowing for proactive responses to potential risks” says Bachar Chadaideh, Project manager for the Telemetry program, and Product Development manager at Envirotainer. “It also offers possibility to improve internal operational processes and thus increase efficiency and security at different levels of the supply chain”. As part of its strong commitment to quality, Envirotainer is investing in an extensive pilot testing phase. First integrated Telemetry pilots have involved DHL LifeConEx’s LifeTrack, Swiss World Cargo, and Emirates SkyCargo in September 2015. New pilots are planned with Kuehne + Nagel, and with Air France-KLM once full approval on SENTRY 500 FlightSafe is secured, expected any day now. “We are very excited to already work together with our partners in this testing phase of integrated Telemetry. This has been a very fruitful collaboration and we are looking forward to further developments” says Bourji Mourad, Head of Global Partner Management & Compliance at Envirotainer. Envirotainer is steadily expanding its pilot program to involve more partners. The first step to enroll for an airline is to approve the SENTRY 500 Flightsafe device. The second step is to ensure that all parties involved in the shipment are on board. The integrated Telemetry pilot is currently available on RAP e2 containers. “We know that we are a small part of the pharma supply chain, yet a very significant one when it comes to pharma cold chain” says Camille Madelon, Director, Strategy and Business Development at Envirotainer. “We are committed to innovation. We want to ensure that all parties involved in the cold chain are offered more efficiency gains and visibility, so that in the end patients are delivered their life saving medicine with full integrity.”
