Cargotec's Kalmar business area has been awarded a contract to supply 42 Ottawa 4x2 terminal tractors for the expansion of the Port of Salalah, located in the southern region of Oman. The equipment will be delivered to Port of Salalah by the end of this year.

The Port of Salalah is one of the fastest-growing terminals in West Central Asia. It is situated on the rim of the Indian Ocean, on a shipping route between Asia and Europe. The port is undertaking a major expansion project, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2011, raising the port's capacity to 9 million TEU per year.

Kalmar's Ottawa terminal tractors will service the quayside operation with Post-Panamax Gantry Cranes. The main features of Kalmar tractors are a big tractive effort, good maneuverability and reliability based on first class components, long experience and close collaboration with Kalmar customers.

This model is a reliable and robust container yard tractor and comes equipped with the cleanest in engine standards with an EU Stage 3A / Tier III engine, emitting only the minimum in harmful emissions. The order also includes an initial stock of spare parts.
