Bangkok, Thailand - Fleet Line Shipping, a global freight forwarder representing X2 in UAE transported a pipe bending machine measuring 9.5 x 3.43 x 3.5 meters from Jebel Ali to Mersin, Turkey. The project was a joint effort between FLS and Maersk Shipping Line.
Fleet Line Shipping proposed that the cargo be loaded to the Maersk Line’s container ship, the M. V. Talassa. When approved, FLS took the permission from DP world, an organization that operates more than 65 marine international terminals, to mobilize the shore crane at the container terminal. The cargo consisted of a 48 ton pipe bending machine together with 2x40’ empty Flat Rack containers on board. It was then lifted using a shore crane, placing the unit on the Flat Rack containers for lashing procedures on-board the vessel.  Once the vessel reached the Mersin port, Maersk crew un-lashed the cargo on board and off loaded the unit via the break bulk method onto Fleet Line’s low bed trailer on direct delivery basis. “Fleet Line's expertise and know-how on handling Out of Gauge (OOG) cargo with our space arrangement on premium shipping lines, in-house lashing and securing team, crane arrangement, inland transport solutions, jacking and skidding are our USP’s in providing one-stop solutions for OOG and Project cargo,” said Peter Mathew, FLS Managing Director, commenting on the success of the cargo.
