Fraport Cargo Services takes on the management contract of the Kuehne + Nagel logistics center in CargoCity South at Frankfurt Airport.

With the takeover of freight handling services for Kuehne + Nagel, Fraport Cargo Services (FCS) has considerably expanded its core business of and has succeeded in acquiring a high-profile customer.

Besides handling consolidated shipments on behalf of the airlines, FCS now also provides services upstream and downstream in the handling process for both export and import shipments. Thus, FCS has taken on another important step in the whole process chain.

Processes are now more efficiently managed by a one-stop service provider, creating beneficial synergies for Kuehne + Nagel. For example, prior to being handled at the Kuehne + Nagel warehouse, part of the freight has already passed through the handling of FCS in the precedent step of the process chain. Networked information systems ensure FCS and Kuehne + Nagel are informed about the status of their consignments at an early stage meaning they can prepare handling services correspondingly. This makes it significantly easier to handle the rising number of particularly urgent consignments.

Kuehne + Nagel is one of the world's top four global airfreight forwarders.

The company has its own on-site airfreight departments at all German international airports. A large proportion of the Central European import and export volumes of Kuehne + Nagel's global airfreight activities is handled via the logistics centre in CargoCity South at Frankfurt Airport and, therewith, in the immediate vicinity of the FCS warehouse.
