This summer the orchestra, which consists of talented high school students from all over the United States, went on its 36th annual European Concert Tour. Each year a different group of outstanding young musicians is selected.
This year about 120 young vocalists and instrumentalists from 42 states took part in the 20-day concert tour. Their repertoire included classical and modern compositions, improvisations, and dance numbers. After the opening concert in Rothenburg, Germany the orchestra traveled through Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Luxemburg, and France performing for audiences running into the thousands.
Singapore Airlines entrusted the experienced team of FCS with complete handling of the orchestra's delicate, valuable instruments and equipment'weighing almost three tonnes'for the return flight to New York. The carrier was very pleased with the quality of their work and is already planning to contract FCS again for the next 'Sound of America' European tour in 2013.
