FS Mackenzie (FSM) – the UK member of the FPS Group network of independent forwarders and consolidators – has relocated its Liverpool office to a new base in Waterloo, adjacent to the city’s newly-built £300m Liverpool2 port development at Seaforth. FSM Liverpool was previously based in St Helens since opening 12 years ago. Its new base is now just 2 minutes from the Port of Liverpool and 10 minutes from Liverpool city centre.  Liverpool2 significantly increases capacity and improves performance at the deep water container port, which can handle 95% of the world’s largest container ships. Its owners claim the development will reaffirm Liverpool as the UK’s leading transatlantic port, while also enabling direct market connections between the North-west and overseas markets. Liverpool2 is predicted to create some 5000 new jobs in the vicinity, and its completion has been attracting many businesses to the area, representing a variety of industries. FSM Liverpool provides ocean, road and air freight forwarding for exports and imports. It also operates 4 x weekly rail services (groupage and full loads) from Valencia to door and terminal (Dagenham) in the UK, supported by local collections at origin, and Spanish-speaking staff in the UK. In addition to general cargo, FSM Liverpool also specialises in the global export logistics of recoverable materials such as metal waste products, and project movements.   Managing FSM Liverpool is Steven Hughan, Branch Manager, who has spent his entire career in shipping and freight, initially with a shipping line. He says: “The ongoing renewal and expansion of Liverpool’s docks will have a significant impact on our business. We wanted to be a part of this regeneration, and had been looking for suitable accommodation here for some time. This move to Liverpool2 represents an exciting new phase for the branch.”
