Global provider of shipping, logistics and marine expands its African presence Namibia – GAC has launched its own operation in Namibia in response to growing demand from our oil & gas customers and increasing cargo trade between the country and neighbouring South Africa, as well as other African nations. The formation of GAC Shipping (Namibia) (Pty) Ltd represents the latest stage in the Group’s expansion in Africa. The Group is represented by a network of its own offices or trusted and constantly monitored agents in nearly 40 other countries throughout the continent. For the past 15 years, GAC has worked with a sub-agent in Namibia but with its growing oil & gas expertise, lay-up services newly introduced in Namibia and South Africa, and growing cargo trades between the country and other African countries, it was decided that the time was right to expand. Starting today, the company provides a portfolio of ship agency services for vessels calling at the country’s ports, from its central office close to Walvis Bay port. That service package includes bunker fuel supplies, offshore support, dry-docking, project logistics and husbandry, as well as lay-up and warm stacking support and for all sorts of vessels from liners, oil & gas carriers, tankers and more. Managing Director Eric Barnard says the new office gives clients the additional peace of mind that comes from dealing directly with the GAC Group. “GAC Namibia is also supported by a dynamic team in South Africa, with vast knowledge of the local industry and the necessary experience to represent our clients and take care of all their requirements in Namibia,” he adds.
