Shipping, logistics and marine services group expands network and diversifies freight forwarding operation Houston - As part of its continuing strategy to develop its footprint across North America, leading shipping, logistics and marine services provider GAC Group is opening four new offices in the US, strategically located to provide customers across a broad range of sectors and markets with complete coverage in key logistics hubs. GAC North America - Logistics’ new offices in Atlanta, Detroit, Chicago and Los Angeles are operational as of June 1, 2015, building upon the Houston-headquartered company’s existing foothold in the oil & gas sector and further expanding its reach in the domestic and international automotive, FMCG, fashion and pharmaceuticals markets. Lars Heisselberg, Group Vice President - Americas, commented: “With five years in Houston’s O&G dominated logistics segment, we are very excited to now expand our US footprint in the general freight forwarding sector with these four initial offices. This new expansion firmly manifests the GAC Group’s long-term commitment to the US market, and our local, regional and global clients will benefit from the new additions to GAC’s global logistics reach.” Working with GAC’s worldwide office network, highly experienced teams in each of the four new offices will help customers to capitalise on the strength of GAC Group’s global presence. This includes access to GAC North America - Logistics’ state-of-the-art storage facility in Houston, which is licensed to operate as a Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ). The 185,000 square feet of covered warehouse space and 4.5 acres of open air paved storage is located near Houston International Airport and provides total visibility and control of shipments through track and trace, and customised management reporting tools. Claus Schensema, Managing Director, GAC North America – Logistics, commented on the company’s growth strategy: “GAC Logistics in the US has spent the past four years concentrating on becoming the lead logistics provider (LLP) to a strategic base of oil majors, drillers and drill suppliers, whilstour highly experienced team in Houston has continued to deliver the highest quality support for our oil and gas customers. In conjunction with GAC North America’s shipping division, with its firmly established agency offices and presence in 16locations across North America, we’re able to offer a truly integrated marine-logistics platform to service the highly specialised requirements of the oil and gas industry.”
