New branch in Munich strengthens the company's international air and sea freight network. Lauterach, October 4, 2017. Gebrüder Weiss, the international transport and logistics company, opened a new air and sea freight location in Munich at the beginning of October. Staffed by five employees, the new branch is located directly at the airport, which is the central freight handling hub for what is a strong exporting region. In addition to air and sea freight services, Gebrüder Weiss customers also benefit from local rail transport, e-commerce and logistics solutions, as well as customs clearance services. Germany as a strategically important logistics market Thanks to its Bavarian Air & Sea branch, Gebrüder Weiss is further widening its logistics competence within Germany. It was only back in April and July 2017 that the logistics specialist announced its plans to establish locations in Hamburg, Frankfurt and Düsseldorf. "Within a relatively short space of time we have established an air and sea freight network in Germany that slots perfectly into our existing portfolio of global services. This means we can offer our customers efficient transport connections between the central German transport hubs and every corner of the globe," explains Vojislav Jevtic, Regional Manager of Air & Sea Asia and Germany at Gebrüder Weiss. Approximately 100 Air & Sea employees at five locations By expanding its air and sea freight network, Gebrüder Weiss is pursuing its corporate strategy of positioning itself even more strongly on the international stage as a globally active full-service logistics provider. "There is no way around Germany. Not just because of its geographical position right in the heart of Europe but also because of its solid infrastructure and foreign trade quota," says Jevtic. Moreover, the logistics specialist is planning to open an Air & Sea branch in Stuttgart at the beginning of 2018. This will take the total number of air and sea freight experts based at the five German locations to approximately 100. Together with its other branches in the south of Germany (Esslingen, Aldingen, Memmingen, Nuremberg and Passau) that specialize in land transport, Gebrüder Weiss will then have a workforce of around 750 in Germany.
