Richard "Rich" McClain has been appointed to the Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority Board of Directors by Governor Rick Scott.  Mr. McClain will replace Josh Burgin who served on the HART Board since February 2012 until his decision to step down on July 1. The Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority (HART) is excited to welcome Mr. McClain, who serves as federal lead in Tampa for Deloitte Consulting LLP and is a member of the Tampa Bay Defense Alliance board of directors. Previously he was co-chair for the Tampa-Hillsborough Economic Development Corporation, Defense and Security Task Force.   "We are very pleased with the Governor's appointment of Mr. McClain to the HART Board of Directors," said HART CEO Katharine Eagan. "We look forward to his contributions, perspective and his wealth of knowledge that can help enhance the HART transit system and transit choices throughout the region." Richard McClain's military career spans more than 30 years. In 2011, he retired from the United States Air Force after 33 years of service, during which he served as Commander of the 515 Air Mobility Operations Wing, Hickam AFB in Hawaii. As Commander, McClain oversaw the Air Mobility Command's air operations in the Pacific. McClain received his bachelor's degree from Fayetteville State University, his master's degree in logistics management from Georgia College, and his master's degree in strategy from the Air University.  His term began November 4, 2015, and ends on October 31, 2018.  The HART Board is responsible for setting policy and making decisions for the Authority on matters ranging from system operations, service planning, fare structure, finance, customer service, and is made up of 13 volunteers who are appointed to represent Hillsborough County (seven seats), City of Tampa (three seats), State of Florida (two seats) and City of Temple Terrace (one seat). Officers of the HART Board (chair, vice chair and secretary) are elected every year.
