PORT CANAVERAL, Fla. - GT USA is pleased to announce the hiring of Rick Clark as operations manager at the company’s U.S. headquarters in Port Canaveral, Fla, responsible for oversight of the company’s U.S. terminal operations, including the new container and multipurpose cargo terminal in Port Canaveral. Clark, who has more than 30 years of U.S. and offshore terminal operations and logistics management experience, including leading two previous start-up operations, will be responsible for safety, productivity, customer service and efficiency in all areas of operations at Port Canaveral. GT USA opened for business in June, a year after the signing of a historic 35-year agreement between Canaveral Port Authority and Gulftainer, the world’s largest, privately owned, independent port management and logistics company. Canaveral Cargo Terminal (CCT), the only dedicated container terminal at Port Canaveral, was developed on 20 acres with two berths and two gantry cranes to serve large vessels. CCT has an initial capacity of 200,000 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) a year.

“Rick will play a key role in the growth and development of Canaveral Cargo Terminal, intersecting with all aspects of facility management and communications,” said Peter Richards, who is overseeing the U.S. expansion of Gulftainer in his role as CEO of GT USA. “Rick has demonstrated a record of success with increasing organizational efficiency and enhancing productivity.” Clark most recently served as the Director of Operations for Horizon Lines in Jacksonville, Fla., where he was responsible for the development and execution of U.S. East Coast and Gulf terminal logistics and operations. He also served as Vice President Operations for Coastal Maritime Stevedoring, and held leadership positions at Trailer Bridge, Inc., and Puerto Rico Marine Management, Inc. Clark holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a specialization in management from the Trinity Southern University. GT USA is investing $100 million in CCT’s new state-of-the-art container terminal, infrastructure, equipment and workforce. The expansion into the United States is part of parent company Gulftainer’s strategic vision to increase its global portfolio and triple its throughput to 18 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) within 10 years. CCT serves as an ideal gateway for containerized movements to the Florida market, and in particular provides an excellent connection to the bustling consumption centers and growing number of distribution centers within Central Florida.
