Effective April 3, 2006, Hamburg S'd will be opening a proprietary office in Mexico City. Hamburg S'd Mexico S.A. de C.V. will take over from Representaciones Maritimas (Repmar) the general agency function for Mexico. Repmar will continue to act as port agents as well as intermodal service provider. Joern Baetke and John Metzger will head Hamburg S'd Mexico S.A. de C.V. as Joint General Managers.

Together with its sister company, Alian'a, Hamburg S'd has more than doubled shipment volume in Mexico in the past two years. With more than 300 port calls a year and weekly liner services from and to Veracruz, Altamira, Manzanillo and Ensenada, the shipping group today commands a network connecting Mexico with South America, Asia, North America and Europe.
