With sea traffic of 91.4 Mt, a 2.4% increase against last year, 2015 is a year of growth for HAROPA which confirms its rank as the # 1 French port system and the # 5 North-European port. Promising development prospects are taking shape in 2016, especially because of the increase in private and public investments. HAROPA, which posted an increase of its sea traffic higher than the economic growth in France and Europe, has reported a 6-Mt traffic rise since its creation in 2012. Many record figures were achieved in strategic sectors. 2015 TRAFFIC: CLEARLY GROWING TRADES - Liquid bulks (+ 5.7%) benefit from favourable economic conditions and the high refining margins led to a rise in crude oil imports by 7.5 %. Refined products reached a record of 12.6 Mt in Le Havre. Another record for fertilizers in Rouen, with a traffic of 1.34 Mt which makes it the best result of the last 30 years. The other liquid bulks (fertilizers, chemistry) are on the rise, especially owing to good results on export. - Dry bulks (+ 4.1%) are increasing. Grain traffic reaches high levels with 8.17 Mt (+ 12.6 %), the best year since 2010 and the second best year for 15 years. - Container traffic is stable in TEU (+ 0.7%). As a result of a slight drop in transhipment, which is by nature more volatile and less structuring, this result hides a significative development of the inland traffic of Le Havre (+3%, +56,000 TEU up to 1.94 MTEU). - Business in the Ro-Ro terminals is increasing (+ 7%), thus expressing the good positioning of HAROPA in the marketplace, which makes it possible to take the opportunity of the recovery of the automotive sector. - The cruise activity (- 12%) is impacted by the upgrade of environmental standards for sea cruise vessels despite a record year in the port of Rouen (+ 9.3%). - The Paris area river traffic finds its way again to growth (+ 3%), after two years of decrease in 2013 and 2014 related to the decline in the sector of building materials. The 2015 results confirm HAROPA’s attractiveness and its positive impact on the economy. The last INSEE study shows the increase in the number of jobs in the port communities of Le Havre and Rouen (+ 0.8%). PUBLIC AND PRIVATE INVESTMENTS: MORE THAN M€ 500 IN 2016 The companies’ commitments in 2015 and the amount of public and private investments scheduled in 2016 will make it possible to continue on the right track. Among the several commitments in terms of logistics and industrial settlements in 2015, let’s mention: - the Panhard group in the port of Le Havre and Rouen, - SARPI in the port of Limay-Porcheville (78), - the agreement signed with the Société du Grand Paris in the port of Bonneuil for the construction of the « Grand Paris Express » south line 15 In 2015, the total addition of the investments made by companies (industrialists, logisticians, stevedores and other clients) established in the three ports amounts to M€ 350. In 2016, more than M€ 400 are expected, some investments being emblematic, such as those from the following companies: - Beuzelin (under construction) and Tessenderlo in Rouen, - Prologis, SDV and LBC Sogestrol in Le Havre, - SEGRO (by its VAILOG subsidiary) and DSV in the port of Gennevilliers, 1 - and the stakeholders of the building materials’ sector (Cemex, CRH, Lafarge-Holcim, Unibéton) in the different ports of Paris, especially. The three ports of HAROPA financially supported by Europe, the State, the Normandy and Ile-de-France regions and the cities or groups of cities, will carry on their dynamic investment policy in 2016, with estimated amounts of about M€ 150. Among them: - the upgrading plans for François 1er and Tancarville locks of the port of Le Havre, - the launch of a new dredging phase for the deepening of the access channel of the port of Rouen (between Courval and Duclair), - The large-scale works programme around the ‘Grand Paris’ project (creation of the port of Vitry-sur-Seine and continuation of the project of Port Seine Métropole Ouest (PSMO) As a whole, more than 500 million euro of public and private investments will be put into the economy in 2016 via the three ports of HAROPA. PORT DEVELOPMENT: HAROPA WILL CONTINUE TO INCREASE ITS OFFER - the offer of shipping services is already at the highest European standard with the presence of the four great worldwide alliances of containership-owners; - the year is decisive for multimodality, at the heart of our development stakes. After a difficult start, river traffic is henceforth operational on the multimodal terminal of Le Havre and the commercial start of the rail yard is expected in February, with a progressive operational rise. The multimodal terminal in Le Havre should make it possible in 2016 to carry on developing rail and river services after the 2015 progress: o since June 24th, 2015, HAROPA has been connected to the new distribution platform set up in Vierzon by the Ferovergne rail operator, with 2 weekly trains (import-export); o the services operated by the different rail operators allow to reach 15 cities directly (including Marseille, Bordeaux, Strasbourg, Toulouse) with 61 scheduled return trips per week. About river transport, after the opening in 2015 of the Longueil-Sainte-Marie terminal, 10 inland terminals are now served reaching 5 regions with 38 weekly scheduled services; - the rising power in 2016 of the S)ONE (*) single window, which started to be operational on all HAROPA in 2015, will enable the actors of the logistics chain to make the external trade more fluid; - in terms of the land and property offer, the projects directed by the main developers committed together with HAROPA (PROLOGIS, PANHARD, SEGRO) offer quick settlement opportunities within the best standards of the marketplace. Anxious to anticipate the needs, the three ports of HAROPA and their partner ports (**) continue their work as developers to permanently offer customers and prospects several dozens of hectares available. After a particularly dynamic year 2015, HAROPA will carry on improving its offer all along the year 2016, thus strengthening its role as a major stakeholder for the development of our territories and for the competitiveness of France. (*) after AP+ that it replaces progressively, the S)ONE single window is a new-generation collaborative platform developed by SOGET and open to importers-exporters.
