IAG Cargo, the freight business of British Airways and Iberia, will offer five flights a week to Austin before moving to daily flights on 3rdMay. IAG Cargo will be the only carrier offering a direct flight between Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and London Heathrow. “Today’s announcement underlines the fact that IAG Cargo is being more competitive than ever and really focussing on delivering the shipping options our customers require.” David Shepherd, Head of Commercial at IAG Cargo commented. “This additional route into Texas builds on IAG Cargo’s extensive list of destinations that connect Europe and the USA to the rest of the world.” The route will be serviced by the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner, which has been optimised for bellyhold with air conditioning in the forward hold and heating in the rear hold. The increased service will benefit the high-tech trade flows from Austin’s ‘Silicon Hills’, supported by IAG Cargo’s express product Prioritise, and its high security service, Secure. The new route will also benefit businesses operating from Mexico, providing them with an additional means of shipping goods to their global markets.  The new route connects Austin to the 350 destinations in IAG Cargo’s global network, providing customers with further flexibility for onward connections from London Heathrow.
