IBERIA Cargo has become the 29th international air cargo carrier to commit to Cargo 2000's quality management system.

Recognizing Cargo 2000's position as 'the industry standard' for quality in the air cargo supply chain, IBERIA Cargo says joining Cargo 2000 reaffirms its commitment to constant improvement.

Mr. Juan Ignacio D'ez Barturen, Senior Vice President of IBERIA Cargo, said: 'IBERIA Cargo decided to join Cargo 2000 because quality measurement is the base for improvement and to do it to a shared and common standard with our partners is a must. Cargo 2000 is the 'standard' that is well recognized in the sector and has been developed by the industry for the industry and with a clear focus on process improvements.'

Mr. Fernando Terol Armas, the airline's Vice President, Commercial added: 'Adopting Cargo 2000 is the best way to communicate to your partners that you're focused on their needs. Working together with the biggest airlines and customers is the way to challenge our own desire to continually improve the services we offer. Cargo 2000 is the right standard and forum to work with. Quality and continued improvement is a must in this industry, especially if you're an expert in perishables like IBERIA Cargo. We want to grow together with our partners and this is why we care so strongly about service quality and improvement.'

IBERIA Cargo operates daily or twice-a-day services between Europe and almost all countries in Latin America. The airline transports more than 240,000 tonnes of freight per annum. In total, Cargo 2000's membership is now at its highest ever level with 76 members including major airlines, freight forwarders, ground handlers, trucking companies and IT providers.

Lothar Moehle, Regional Director, Europe, Middle East and Africa for Cargo 2000, said: 'IBERIA Cargo's strong presence in the Latin America market will further extend the geographical awareness of Cargo 2000 and build on our current activities in the Americas. Our quality program is firmly established as helping our members improve reliability, increase productivity, achieve cost efficiencies and enhance their reputation with customers around the world.'
