Halifax, Nova Scotia – Mr. Jim Spatz has been appointed by the Government of Canada as the Federal director to the Halifax Port Authority Board of Directors. Mr. Spatz is a dedicated business leader and philanthropist. After spending 13 years as a medical doctor, Jim Spatz became Chairman and CEO of Southwest Properties Limited, one of Atlantic Canada’s leading real estate development firms. He has taken on leadership roles in several organizations. He serves on the Board of Directors for CJPAC (Canadian Jewish Political Affairs Committee) and Blue Line Innovations Incorporated. He is a member of the Parker Street Food and Furniture Bank Advisory Board and serves as a Life Director of Neptune Theatre. Jim also served on the Board of Governors for Dalhousie University from 2001 – 2015, and served as Board Chair from 2008 – 2014. Jim currently sits on the National Executive Committee for the 2017 Governor General’s Canadian Leadership Conference. “Jim Spatz is a tremendous addition to the HPA board of directors,” said David Henderson, Chair, Halifax Port Authority Board of Directors. “He is a community leader with experience in business, arts, culture, education, and charitable causes.
