AMBON INDONESIA - Johor Port Berhad (JPB), a member of MMC Group has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with PT Pelabuhan Indonesia IV (PELINDO IV) in a ceremony that was held at the Universitas Pattimura in Ambon, Indonesia recently. The signing of the MoU represented a synergistic collaboration in sharing JPB’s experience and expertise in Port Management and Operations with PELINDO IV in the areas of Port Training Services, consultation on Container and Conventional Operations, collaboration on Inter Port Logistics Services; and a Sister Port Partnership program. The MoU was signed by PELINDO IV Direktur Utama / Managing Director Mr. Doso Agung and JPB Chief Executive Officer En. Shahrull Allam Shah Bin Abdul Halim on the 8th February 2017. Also witnessing the signing ceremony and representing Indonesian President His Excellency Ir. H. Joko Widodo as Ministers-in-Attendance were His Excellency General (Ret.) Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Maritime and His Excellency Mr. Budi Karya Sumadi, Indonesian Minister of Transportation. Dato' Sri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh, Chairman of JPB shared, “The MoU signing is another stepping stone for both ports managed by PELINDO IV and MMC Ports. These operators hold various expertise in ports management and this collaboration serves as a catalyst that will spur the development and quality of our port operations, competencies and efficiencies alongside other international players". This milestone event further strengthens the collaboration between PELINDO IV and MMC Ports which not only covers the provision of Port Training Services, but also encompasses collaboration on Inter Port Logistics Services and other collaborative initiatives under a Sister Port Partnership program Under the Port Training Services, some of the Competency Development Programs as agreed between the two companies include Training for Container and Conventional Terminal Operations, Operation of Cranes and Forklifts; and Handling of other Terminal Equipment. In addition, the training will also cover areas on Port Information System, Port Safety and Security, and Emergency Response. All of the training will be conducted by JPB’s own Johor Port Skill Centre (JPSC), an accredited Human Resource Development Fund (HRDF) Approved Training Provider that is currently providing training to the major local ports. JPSC is also collaborating with the Jabatan Kemahiran Malaysia and UPEN Negeri Johor to provide Port Operational and Technical training to school leavers.  Under the Sister Port Partnership program, JPB and MMC Ports will also develop joint marketing activities with the PELINDO IV ports to further enhance feeder service to the Eastern Indonesian Region. These marketing activities will encourage trading of commodities and cargo consolidation activities in Johor.
