Virgin Atlantic Cargo has appointed Nick Jones to the new post of Head of Sales.

The newly-created role, based at the airline's UK headquarters, is part of a strategic initiative to further strengthen the commercial team following two consecutive years of record cargo growth for Virgin Atlantic. Nick reports to Dan Parker, Vice President Commercial.

Nick has a wealth of cargo, commercial and international experience. He spent eight years with Virgin Atlantic in roles in both the cargo and passenger divisions before joining Emirates Airline in Dubai in a senior role in its strategic planning team. In 2010, he rejoined Virgin Atlantic Cargo as Regional Vice President, EMEA, based at London Heathrow.

Dan Parker said: 'Every airline is working in extremely challenging market conditions so that places even greater emphasis on commercial teams to find new revenues, improve yields and to strengthen relationships with customers. With new routes and extra frequencies being launched by Virgin Atlantic Cargo, Nick will play an important role in helping our continued development as we offer customers another choice and award-winning service levels to prime cargo markets across the globe.'
