Finnish crane maker Konecranes on Wednesday reported a 25-percent rise in its core quarterly operating profit amid improving market conditions in developed countries. Operating profit for the April-June quarter, excluding one-off items, rose to 22 million euros from 17 million a year earlier, in line with the average forecast in a poll of analysts conducted by Reuters. Order intake was 524 million euros, also meeting analysts’ expectations. The company, whose cranes are used in factories, shipyards and ports, repeated that it expects its adjusted operating profit this year to be at or slightly above the level achieved in 2013.
