Washington D.C. - Logistics Supply Chain Coalition (LSCC) Executive Director James Voyles released the following statement in response to the United States Senate passing H.R.636, the legislative vehicle being used to pass a Federal Aviation Administration reauthorization bill. The bill makes efforts to reform air traffic control, drone regulation, and the shipment of lithium ion batteries by passenger aircraft.  "The LSCC applauds Senate lawmakers for their ability to work together and pass a bipartisan FAA bill that should make American air travel and cargo shipment more efficient. The LSCC remains cautiously optimistic about section 2317 of the bill and whether it strikes the proper balance between the safe shipment of lithium ion batteries as cargo on passenger airlines and protecting open commerce. We further encourage House lawmakers to preserve section 828 of the 2012 FAA bill and prevent federal regulators from making rules any more stringent that ICAO’s Technical Instructions. By following standards set by international experts, America will continue to have a safe, vibrant passenger and air cargo network unencumbered by overregulation."
