The positive performance trend at Lufthansa Cargo Charter Agency (LCCA) continued in the 2006 financial year. Despite increasingly tough market conditions characterised by a sizeable increase in scheduled freighter capacities, the company succeeded in boosting its business with primary customers by 20%. Demand rose by 12% over the previous year, thereby successfully increasing awareness of Lufthansa Cargo Charter Agency and its market presence. This was also reflected in a 16% increase in the customer base. New customers were gained in Asia, as well as in Europe and the US. This validates the company's strategy of maintaining a presence in those markets through its Competence Centres in Chicago, Hong Kong and Frankfurt.

Despite the difficult market environment, particularly in the fourth quarter, the company's results remained on a par with the prior-year level. Thanks to the support of its sales partners Lufthansa Cargo and Swiss WorldCargo, Lufthansa Cargo Charter Agency achieved revenues of 79 million euros.

In order to tap into and serve new markets, Lufthansa Cargo Charter Agency last year began preparations for setting up a Service Center in the United Arab Emirates. The office was officially opened on January 30, 2007 and has already notched up successes. The company is now implementing its plans further to extend its presence in European and Asian markets, as well as in Central and South America, and to expand its sales partnerships in 2007.
