Lufthansa Cargo is offering customers a new non-stop service to and from Shenzhen (People's Republic of China). For the service, a 747-400ER-freighter of Jade Cargo International comes into operation on the thrice-weekly flights to Frankfurt.

'Jade Cargo International is augmenting the Lufthansa Cargo network with its new service perfectly. With it, we will be offering our customers faster transport times, excellent quality, competitive rates and optimally coordinated flight schedules to the fast-growing Pearl River Delta in southeastern China,' observed Lufthansa Cargo CEO Carsten Spohr.

With a new Boeing 747-400ER freighter, Jade Cargo International will in future connect Europe's biggest airport with the burgeoning Shenzhen airport ' at the heart of the major industrial center in Asia.

'This close cooperation is strengthening the Lufthansa Cargo Group. With Jade Cargo International, we can harness excellent growth opportunities arising from a thriving Chinese airfreight market returning two-digit growth rates,' noted Spohr.

From July 1, 2007, Lufthansa Cargo is also chartering an additional MD-11 freighter from World Airways. The US charter specialist is already operating two MD-11 freighters for Lufthansa Cargo. The contract on three Boeing 747-200F aircraft chartered from Air Atlanta Icelandic expires on June 30, 2007 and is not being renewed.

Lufthansa Cargo will thus have at its disposal one of the world's lowest emission-generating fleets.
