La Cañada Flintridge CA - In conjunction with their 40 years in business, the Allen Lund Company will be completing 40 Acts of Kindness in 2016. Each of their 30 nationwide offices, as well as all support departments have been invited to participate with their own events. The 40 Acts of Kindness kicked off in February with a Build a Bike event held in San Diego, in partnership with Team Bonding. Five girl and five boy bikes were built to give to children from the Boys & Girls Club of Greater San Diego.

"As the Allen Lund Company celebrates our 40 years in business we have launched our largest community service project. Kind deeds come from a desire to give back, generated by a core response deep within all of us. When we carry out an act of kindness it is a message of love from one heart to another," stated Kenny Lund, VP of Support Operations. In continuation with their 2016 goal of giving back to the community they have many projects already in process, on the horizon, or nearing completion:
  • Since 1999, the company has sponsored the Cardinal's Awards in Los Angeles, honoring members of the Archdiocese and Catholic Church that go above and beyond for their church communities. In 2016, this Act of Kindness will continue with a $10,000.00 donation.
  • Support of educational endeavors has always been important to the company. Beginning in 2004, annual donations have been made to the Catholic Education Foundation, which underwrites elementary and high school tuition for thousands of at need children. This tradition will continue in 2016, keeping the focus on inner-city schools within Los Angeles.
  • American Cancer Society's Foothills Relay for Life. In April we will have a team on the track for the annual relay. A continuing project since the early 2000's, ALC has raised over $110,000 towards cancer research through this local relay event...a recurring Act of Kindness.
  • ALC headquarters has partnered with Verbum Dei High School to take part in their work study program, which brings high school students to ALC for on the job training. Since 2007, 36 students have interned through this invaluable work study program, with our 2015/2016 group wrapping up their school year with ALC in May.
  • 2016 marks the 6th year working with the Chamber of Commerce and City of La Cañada Flintridge to develop and implement the Summer Intern Program with local LCF companies. We are currently in the interview process with students from La Cañada High School to fill this summer internship with the company.
  • For the second year in April, ALC will be feeding the homeless at the Cardinal Manning Center on Skid Row, via our corporate partnership with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. 50 to 100 meals are served during lunch to the temporary residents at the Center.
One of the most aggressive goals for the 40 Acts of Kindness project is a company wide challenge for all employees to walk or run for a combined goal of 40,000 miles by Memorial Day, 2016. In congruence with our goal, they will be partnering with The Independence Fund, supporting their mobility program. The Allen Lund Company will donate $16,000 to help provide a track chair and trailer to a disabled veteran after the challenge is completed on Memorial Day. "I can't tell you how proud I am of our management team and employees for taking on this feat on a national scale. I've always said that people are our product and we have the best people," stated Allen Lund, President and CEO. "I am proud to work with all of our ALC employees, especially in efforts to better our communities. I thank them from the bottom of my heart for their generosity towards others."
