Since rates are at an unsustainable level in the trans-Atlantic trade, Maersk Line announced a general rate increase effective September 1, 2009.

This rate increase is necessary to continue to operate services with the high level of reliability customers have come to expect from Maersk Line.

The filed increase is as follows:

  • USD 400 per 20' container
  • USD 500 per 40'/high cube/45' container

The increases apply equally to all Eastbound and Westbound cargo moving between the US & Canada and Northern Europe.
