Rosharon, Texas - Mammoet has been awarded a contract by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America, Inc. (MHIA) to support a large polymer production plant expansion project on the Gulf Coast in Texas.  Mammoet’s scope includes transporting several oversized and heavy pieces, including one piece weighing over 1 million lbs., reaching 160 ft. in length and 30 ft. in diameter. A portion of the transport services will include a 40 mile over-the-road transport to the construction site. Mammoet will engineer a tailor-made approach to overcome several route obstacles, such as overhead obstructions and bridges, in a timely fashion.  “Part of Mammoet’s strategy is servicing oil & gas and chemical companies along the Gulf Coast. Our branch locations and sourcing strategy are set up for just that. We are excited to be a part of this project and are confident in our ability to overcome the transport obstacles and deliver these pieces in a safe, swift and efficient manner.”   -Pierre Mille, Sales Director of Mammoet USA.  This project is one of several polymer production plant expansions projects announced in the United States. The wave of expansions and investments are a result of a growing global demand triggered by population growth in cities. It is estimated that North America will add around 11 billion pounds of annual capacity by the end of 2017 with most of that production taking place in the Gulf Coast.
