AMI, the world's largest trade-only airfreight- and express wholesaler, has appointed Richard Marquez to the newly-created position of General Manager – Operations for its USA business. He returns to AMI after a break of two years.  Based in Los Angeles and reporting to AMI's VP USA, Mike Pattinson, Marquez will be responsible for strengthening operational processes across the business, with emphasis on adoption of best practice and improving operational efficiencies, particularly through the use of MyAMI, AMI's new IT platform. He will also ensure compliance with all security, safety and Customs requirements.     Marquez has spent 17 years in the air cargo industry, most recently with Final Mile Logistics as Director of West Coast operations, where he set up its Los Angeles base, enhanced its overseas network and worked on securing major Government contracts. Prior to his latest position, Marquez spent 15 years with AMI and its predecessor UAC, and was most recently branch manager in Los Angeles. Says Mike Pattinson: “We are delighted to welcome Richard back. His thorough knowledge of AMI and its markets will enable him to become an immediately productive and key member of our team.”
