MILOS® software for digital management of the entire logistics chain has been chosen also by Compagnia Impresa Lavoratori Portuali (CILP) of Livorno. After the recent success story of Lugo Terminal, the company provider of port operations and logistics services based in the Port of Livorno will use MILOS® too in order to reduce transit times, improve the visibility and tracking of goods. The number of companies that make use of MILOS®, the innovative suite developed by the consulting firm leader in optimizing port and intermodal transport operations “Circle”, is growing rapidly. MILOS® software - which has been conceived for terminal operators, ports, logistic operators and shippers and is capable of putting together the different stakeholders of the supply chain in order to simplify in a significant manner the transport management, reduce transit times and related costs - has been chosen also by Compagnia Impresa Lavoratori Portuali (CILP), one of the most dynamic companies in Livorno providing loading/discharging operations related to management of the entire port operational cycle. After the recent success story of Lugo Terminal, the logistic platform located in the middle of Romagna region, CILP has become therefore user of Circle’s suite, which is already used by various Italian ports and major production companies (among all, Ikea and Noberasco are important to remember). MILOS® has been chosen by CILP due to the need of a technological solution able to increase the efficiency of industrial, logistic and terminal processes, and to exchange digital information with other software used by multiple external actors the terminal interacts with, from the Port Authority and other players of the Port Community, to the Customs Agency, the shipping companies, MTOs and railway undertakings offering transport services relating to the Port of Livorno. “MILOS® was the answer to these needs because its ‘framework’ and ‘connectors’, that enable platform interoperability and its ability to interface with other leading tools used in the supply chain, allow digital management of the entire intermodal logistic chain with an Industry 4.0 approach - said Circle’s CEO Mr. Luca Abatello - We are extremely pleased with CILP’s trust and recognition and we are confident that we will do a very good job and contribute to make the terminal more efficient in terms of gates, operations, ships loading and unloading, optimization of yards”. “CILP is by far the biggest terminal operator in the Port of Livorno with a solid tradition and a strong market presence for over 30 years in a wide range of traffics which include forestry products, vehicles and general cargo. These sectors are extremely important for our Port and territory and request increasing capacities to control and monitor the supply chain - said CILP’s GM Mr. Simone D’Angelo - We are willing to look to the future with belief and professionalism, increasing the quality of our services and customers’ satisfaction. Nowadays these goals can be achievable also through an adequate technological support and we think that the choice of Circle as partner will give us an extra kick and allow us a big and rapid step forward. The digitalization of processes, the interactivity with our clients, partners and suppliers through the web, the evolution towards IoT: we are sure that with all these assets CILP will be able to be a protagonist of the Port of Livorno also in the coming years”. Circle’s project for CILP is completed by a “Industry 4.0” feature which provides for the use of RFID tags in order to optimize the operating flows of vehicles, with operational, maritime and customs simplifications.
