Six survivors rescued off Indonesia in Indian Ocean TOKYO-Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL; President & CEO: Junichiro Ikeda) today announced that on May 17, 2016, the MOL-operated bulk carrier GREAT PERSEUS safely rescued six survivors about 250 km offshore of Sumba, Indonesia. Details of the rescue follow:
  • At 20:00 (all times in local time) on May 16, 2016, the GREAT PERSEUS, sailing from Port Walcott, Australia to Port of Mizushima, Japan received a request for assistance from Rescue Coordination Center (RCC) of Australia and immediately changed course to approach the castaways, and started rescue operations.
  • At 00:20 on May 17, all six survivors were safely rescued.
  • At 17:37 of the same day, the survivors were turned over to a rescue boat arranged by Indonesian authority.
