TOKYO—Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) announced that it hosted a reception for about 350 people, mainly representatives of customers and business partners, in Singapore on March 1. Also in attendance were His Excellency Khaw Boon Wan, Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Minister for Transport of Singapore and His Excellency Haruhisa Takeuchi, Ambassador of Japan to Singapore.  MOL President & CEO Ikeda opened the event with a speech expressing his gratitude for customers’ continued understanding and support and the company’s determination to enhance its business activities and customer service, responding to customer needs under the motto “One MOL.” The relationship between MOL and Singapore goes back to 1883 when the company started coal transport between Singapore and Japan. Since then, MOL has built a solid customer base centering on transport business in Southeast Asia. Today, Singapore is home to 13 MOL Group companies employing more than 500 people. In 2015, its group company, Mitsui O.S.K. Bulk Shipping (Asia,Oceania) Pte. Ltd. received the International Maritime Centre (Corporate) Award (*) for its contributions to Singapore’s maritime industry.
