The Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), the world's second largest shipping company, is inaugurating a weekly call at Dunkirk.

This line will offer, among other things, direct or transshipped access to the ports of the West Coast Africa (WCA), in conjunction with MSC's world network of lines.

On May 23 MSC representatives assembled their customers and partners in Dunkirk for the official presentation of this new line, in the presence of representatives of the Port of Dunkirk Authority (PDA).

On that occasion, St'phan SNIJDERS, CEO of MSC France, declared that 'this announcement is the evident sign that a strong partnership now exists between MSC and the Port of Dunkirk'.

Jean-Claude Terrier, CEO of the Port of Dunkirk Authority (PDA), expressed his delight at the arrival of MSC as, '...henceforth the world's three major shipping companies are operating direct calls at Dunkirk. And in the very near future the investments made at the Container Terminal will enable to effectively support MSC's development.'

The inaugural call for this new line took place in Dunkirk's Western Port on May 27 with the MSC Normandie.
