MTC Holdings President Douglas Tilden recently announced the appointment of Larry Grotte to the newly created position of chief information officer.

LarryGrotte.gif 'In the position of CIO, Larry will provide technology vision and leadership to MTCH and its affiliated companies for developing and implementing IT strategic initiatives that maintain our leadership in this highly competitive and constantly changing global marine terminal environment,' Tilden said. 'I see technology grounded in solid processes as a key differentiator in our business. Larry's responsibilities will include evolving IT from a pure technology orientation to a business process management (BPM) orientation across the corporate culture.'

MTC Holdings adopted People, Process and Technology as its core competencies. Grotte will assist the MTCH business units in identifying and developing robust business processes as he champions the Process and Technology elements of triad. His office will be in the Oakland headquarters.

Prior to joining MTCH, Grotte spent more than 30 years as a CEO/C-level executive and management consultant for several Silicon Valley companies within the Fortune 500 and emerging technology/venture capital-backed sectors. Grotte started his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers, initially as part of its Business Assurance practice and later as part of its Emerging Technology practice. Later, Grotte served as Chairman of the Inc' CEO Council of Growing Companies, Chairman of the ASTD' Silicon Valley Total Quality Management Task Force, and as Group Chairman for TEC International, a CEO leadership development organization.

Grotte currently serves on the board of directors of Visual Harmonics and is an active member of the BPM Institute, a business process management professional organization.
