National Air Cargo announced that it has received approval from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to operate a Certified Cargo Screening Facility at the Willow Run Airport in Ypsilanti, MI. The newly designated facility will help relieve congestion of the screening for domestic and international air cargo shipments at Detroit Metropolitan Airport and other airports in southeastern Michigan.

'We take great pride in being able to provide quality freight forwarding solutions. Having a screening facility in such close proximity to airports in and around a major metropolitan region will expedite the safe and secure transport of domestic and international cargo on passenger aircraft,' Cory McAllister, security coordinator, National Air Cargo said.

Currently one hundred percent of cargo loaded on narrow body aircraft and fifty percent of wide body aircraft is required to be screened. The United States Congress has mandated that by August 2010 one hundred percent of all domestic and international cargo on wide body passenger aircraft must be screened.

'National Air Cargo has all of the relevant experience to operate a screening facility to ensure that domestic and international air cargo is thoroughly and safely inspected prior to boarding passenger aircraft,' McAllister continued.'

'The cargo screening facility at Willow Run will assist in supporting the federal government's air commerce infrastructure and is critically important to maintaining a safe and secure global supply chain,' McAllister concluded.
