Wilmington, CA-based Nautilus International Holding Corp., which holds Metropolitan Stevedore Co., Metro Cruise Services LLC, and other businesses, recently announced its purchase of the Savannah International Terminal (SIT).

SIT comprises a 14.85-acre tract on the south side of the Savannah River, including a deep-water private slip. The terminal contains a 255,000 square foot warehouse and has direct rail and highway access.

Currently, SIT offers export and import bulk and breakbulk stevedore and marine terminal services as well as bagging services. The facility specializes in the export of clay; however, planned terminal improvements will expand the range of bulk cargo capabilities.

'We are excited about our purchase of SIT,' said Nautilus CEO James Callahan. 'Our experience in handling dry bulk commodities will allow us to grow this facility to handle a wide variety of bulk cargoes. The purchase of SIT in Savannah, GA, along with our current operations in Wilmington, NC, further enhances our presence on the East Coast.'
