Bahrain - GAC Bahrain has opened its new warehouse and office building as part of its long-term strategic planning in response to anticipated growth of the Kingdom’s logistics sector. The 3,200 square metres, 3,019-pallet position ambient racked warehouse in Hidd, Bahrain Investment Wharf, replaces the company’s previous leased facility in Salmabad. The new office building and warehouse complex enjoys easy links to its main operational areas, airport, seaport, ASRY (Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard) and the King Fahd Causeway. GAC Bahrain’s Managing Director Pontus Fredriksson notes that the Kingdom is the gateway to Saudi Arabia, the region’s single largest economy, and boasts a well-developed transport infrastructure and strong regional connectivity. “The logistics sector in Bahrain is performing well and it is set to grow further. The purpose-built warehouse, which can be expanded to accommodate future growth, will help meet this demand,” he adds. GAC Bahrain also operates 1,500 sqm and 1,404 sqm of bonded warehousing facilities at the airport (GLS) and seaport (BLZ) respectively. 2017 marks its 60 years of operations in the Kingdom.
