GAC has set up a new company in Norway, and opened a business development office in Oslo, to meet the needs of the country's energy sector. GAC Logistics (Norway) AS focuses on the energy industry's air, sea and road transportation needs and serves the whole of Norway.

'GAC has logistics operations offices in key locations between Oslo in the south and Hammerfest in the north,' explains Gunnar Lundgren, Regional Logistics Manager. 'These, and others to follow, are strategically located to optimise our services to the offshore oil and gas and other energy related industries in Norway, and to provide Project Logistics expertise. GAC Marine Logistics (GML), a specialist in ship spares' logistics, is also now present in this key territory.'

Formed in response to customer demand, the company already has several blue chip accounts and is committed to provide the foremost oil and gas companies with turnkey logistics solutions to meet their current and future requirements.

Based at the company's head office in Mongstad near Bergen, Managing Director of GAC Logistics (Norway) is Ahmet Ozsoy. He also heads GAC-ORO ' the company formed by the acquisition of one of Norway's oldest shipping names, Ole R. Olsen, by GAC in 2007.

He says: 'GAC-ORO is the number one shipping agent for liquid cargoes to and from all Norwegian oil and gas terminals, handling over 1100 port calls per annum. The formation of GAC Logistics (Norway) builds on the personal relationships for which we are famous, coupled with our vast experience in this sector and our proven understanding of customers' needs.'

In addition to its project, ship spares logistics and freight forwarding services, GAC Logistics (Norway) also provides warehousing and distribution for manufacturers, retailers and distributors.
