Neil Vernon spent 13 years as part of the bmi cargo team and has gained a wealth of experience in the European, Middle Eastern, African and South Asian cargo markets. At Virgin Atlantic Cargo, he is based in Hong Kong and reports to Nick Jones, Head of Sales, and is responsible for revenue for the entire Asia Pacific region. Virgin Atlantic’s performance in Asia Pacific in 2013 has been boosted by the successful relaunch of flight operations from Mumbai and the continuing growth of its joint venture with Virgin Australia. Neil was Regional Manager, Middle East and Africa at bmi cargo prior to joining Virgin Atlantic and was responsible for overall sales and operational activity. At bmi he held a variety of positions including UK Account Manager, Business Development Manager and Commercial Manager for Europe and Asia. Commenting on his new role, he said: “This is a great opportunity for me and I am looking forward to working closely with our existing customers and developing new relationships in Asia Pacific. Anyone who tries to sell against Virgin Atlantic knows the airline’s reputation for great customer service and in a market as challenging as APAC that gives us a great advantage when it comes to generating cargo and support for our global network. With fast connections through London, our extensive road network across Europe and our excellent partnership with Virgin Australia, I believe we have a very strong proposition for customers in Asia and Australia.”
