Norfolk Liquid Transfer has announced its launch as a premier provider of intermodal bulk liquid transfer services in close proximity to the Port of Virginia. The company, based in Norfolk, was formed through a partnership of experienced global logistics and transportation service providers Capes Shipping Agencies, Lakes Logistics, Montclair Marine Services and Norfolk Oil Transit. Norfolk Liquid Transfer (NLT) will offer liquid shipping services that range from certified fitting of flexitanks into ocean containers to full service, point-to-point management of transportation to international destinations. NLT’s strategic location at Lambert’s Point Docks provides convenient, cost effective access to all container terminals at the Port of Virginia. The terminal location features certified truck scales, a paved container staging yard, and is served by both CSX and Norfolk Southern. With combined expertise in the areas of liquid bulk cargo handling, international shipping, and general transportation management, NLT offers an integrated approach to the handling of liquids in container load volumes. “NLT offers a one-stop, customizable service for the transfer and shipment of liquids, including the convenience of handling liquid transfers on-site or at the shipper’s facility. Shippers may choose from à la carte options as well as complete door-to-door transfer and transportation packages,” commented Mike Coleman, President of Capes Shipping Agencies, a partner in NLT. Grant Narelle, President of Norfolk Oil Transit, remarked that “meeting the ambitious goals and rapid growth of the bulk liquid containerized industry in North America will require maritime players with significant experience, scale, and resources, as well as a reputation for quality, responsibility and safety. NLT brings all of those vital elements into this collaboration.”
