New facility better serves clients in metal industry; offers strategic location near intermodal rail ramps and highway infrastructure Odyssey Logistics & Technology Corporation (Odyssey) today announced the recent opening of its new metals transload and warehousing facility in Joliet, Ill. The 121,680 square foot facility is operated by Odyssey subsidiary CMI Logistics LLC (CMI). “We are now in a position to better serve our metals industry clients and increase our throughput by up to 20 percent,” said Bob Shellman, president and CEO, Odyssey. “This is an investment in the future of our business and continues to strengthen our leadership position in providing our clients with innovative solutions to their logistics challenges.” Strategically located at the CenterPoint Intermodal Center – Joliet (CIC-Joliet)/Logistics Park Chicago (LPC), the new state-of-the-art facility provides easy access to the BNSF intermodal rail yards through the park’s private, heavyweight road system. Additionally, the site also provides easy access for flatbed motor carriers bringing metal products into CMI from Interstates 55 and 80. “This new facility makes it easier for our partner-carriers to get in and out quickly. The old rail yard and congested highway system in metro-Chicago posed many challenges for the industry,” added Paul Sever, executive vice president and general manager, CMI Logistics LLC. “Because our business is focused on the intermodal movement of metals, it is imperative for us to be located near intermodal ramps and highway infrastructure. This new facility accomplishes that.” Sever noted that the key features and benefits of the new facility include:
  • Ten docks
  • Three drive-through bays
  • Reinforced slab floors
  • 16 trailer positions
  • 6,000 square feet of office space
CMI is a wholly owned subsidiary of Odyssey and is North America’s leading intermodal service provider for metal products, including heavy coils. The company moves approximately 35,000 containers annually throughout North America and abroad.
