Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. opened a new service center in Watertown, the company’s third in South Dakota. With the increasing population and economic growth in the region, the opening of the service center in Watertown is vital for the Thomasville, N.C.-based less-than-truckload (LTL) carrier’s growth and will help serve the region’s robust manufacturing sector. The one-acre, 12-door service center will employ five. “This expansion will benefit our customers not only in Watertown, but throughout northeast South Dakota,” said Ken Petersen, manager of the Watertown Service Center. “With this new facility, we are poised to expand our current business and better deliver the premium service customers expect from Old Dominion.” The facility is located at 1101 23rd St. SE, near a trio of major highways: U.S. Highway 212, U.S. Highway 81 and Interstate 29. The service center will provide direct service to much of northeastern South Dakota, including Aberdeen, Milbank, Webster, Sisseton, Redfield and Huron. The facility will be one of three Old Dominion service centers in the Mount Rushmore State. Old Dominion also maintains facilities in Rapid City and Sioux Falls.
