SALEM, Ore. – The Oregon Board of Maritime Pilots (OBMP) announces the appointment of Marc Warren as the new Executive Director. A seasoned professional, Mr. Warren served as a regulatory specialist for the Oregon Liquor Control Commission and possesses 25 years of maritime leadership experience with the United States Coast Guard, serving as a Commanding Officer and most recently, Enforcement Division Chief. Mr. Warren will work in partnership with the OBMP board members, state-licensed maritime pilots, shipping industry representatives, and contractors, as well as with environmental, state and federal regulatory agencies and Oregon residents in an effort to implement the objectives and goals of OBMP.

“Marc’s leadership experience and knowledge of the challenges facing the maritime industry will be an enormous asset,” said Gary Piercy, OBMP Board Chair.  “His leadership will complement the efforts of the dedicated staff and board members to help lead us into the future of the maritime services we provide.” In addition to an extensive military career with the United States Coast Guard, Mr. Warren holds a degree in Organizational Security and Management. “I’m looking forward to this exciting opportunity to work with the Oregon maritime community,” said Warren. “Our waterways can be difficult to navigate, requiring expert pilots, making pilot regulation and licensing an essential element of maritime commerce in Oregon.”
